Sagator is an email antivirus/antispam gateway.
It is an interface to the postfix, sendmail, or any other smtpd,
which runs antivirus and/or spamchecker.
It's modular architecture can use any combination of antivirus/spamchecker
according to configuration.

After more than 3 years there is a well tested version 1.3.0. This release is compatible with older version. Some new services have been added, but older versions still exist. Most important change is policy quota, which can limit number of sent emails per authenticated user. See changelog for list of all changes.

This release only updates drop interscanner default pattern. Sanesecurity SPAM an JUNK emails will be dropped by default, because they are mostly viruses. You can update this also manually in older sagator configuration file.

First version of sagator 1.1 is out! This version has totally rewritten sagator-libclamav and sagator-pydspam, using python-ctypes library. Now it is not neccessary to recompile clamav support after update of clamav. For other changes please read ChangeLog file.

End of Life times for Fedora 1,2 and Debian Woody packages (2006-08-09)
After an announcement from fedora legacy project the sagator packages for Fedora Core 1 and 2 and for Debian Woody will be not built after 1st october 2006. Also development (beta, rc) packages and new versions will be not build for these operating systems from now. If someone requires these packages, please tell the author.
Released version 0.7.3 (2006-04-15)
This is a bugfix release. It fixes alternatives() scanner, which can pass viruses in some special situations. If you are using this scanner, please update immediately. There is also small rrdtool bugfix and pydspam update to be compatilbe with latest libdspam.

Released version 0.7.0 (2005-12-23)
This release introduces the lmtpd() daemon, which can be used to scan each recipient in a different way. You can define some groups of scanners and attach them to a recipient. Recipient-to-filter-group mapping can be done with a SQL database. There are also some small fixes against previous versions and a sgfilterd() daemon, which can be used to scan from procmail or another script which can run filters. It's more effective than the avfilter() scanner (which is now obsolete).
New documentation and new screenshots (2005-10-27)
Documentation pages have been rewritten. There are short descriptions for all scanners at index page. Also some screenshots of "web quarantine" have been added.
Released version 0.6.0 (2005-10-04)
This release introduces a "web-quarantine" service, which can be used to allow users to access it's quarantine files via HTTP protocol. Each user can make it's "web account" by self, if it has at least one mail in sagator's quarantine. Another changes are in log scanners, which requires infection level>=1.0 to log now.
Released version 0.5.9 (2005-03-21)
This relase contains initial support for dspam scanner and http service. DSpam can be used to scan for spams. It must be use with other utilities from DSpam package. http service can be used to scan for viruses in http protocol. This service is in beta stage now. If you need to use it on a production server, wait for sagator 0.6.0. Spamassassind scanner can be used as filter (all parameters set in spamassassin config are now stored in destination email). System administrator can set resource limits for sagator. Also many bugfixes have been made.

It is only a minor bugfix release, but there are also some new scanners. Sagator now can send logs into SQL databases. Automatic restart after RPM update is now done only when RESTART=auto is present in /etc/sysconfig/sagator.

This release has new service definitions, which can describe, which services are provided by sagator (collector, smtp daemon, milter support or procmail filter).
